Frequently Asked Questions

MIT-SICS (MIT School of Indian Civil Services) is an academic institution located at MIT-ADT University, Pune, with a unique focus on integrating higher education with competitive government exam preparation. Unlike conventional degree programs, MIT-SICS combines a robust academic curriculum with targeted preparation for examinations such as the UPSC, MPSC, NABARD, RBI, RRB, Railway, SSC, and various other state and central government exams.

This approach allows students to pursue their undergraduate (BA in Administration) and postgraduate (MA in Public Administration) degrees while simultaneously preparing for government exams, saving them time and providing a clear pathway to public service careers. What sets MIT-SICS apart is its holistic approach to public administration education, expert faculty with years of experience in both academia and competitive exams, and its well-rounded curriculum that emphasizes leadership, governance, and societal impact.

MIT-SICS offers two primary degree programs :
BA in Administration (Undergraduate Program) :

This is a three-year undergraduate program aimed at students who have completed their 12th grade (HSC). The course structure is designed to cover both theoretical and practical aspects of administration and governance while preparing students for competitive exams such as the UPSC Civil Services Exam, MPSC, and other related government services exams.

MA in Public Administration (Postgraduate Program):

This is a two-year postgraduate course meant for students who have completed their undergraduate degrees. The course focuses on advanced concepts in public administration, governance, and public policy, with a strong emphasis on preparing for higher-level exams like UPSC, state public services exams, and roles in national and international NGOs, think tanks, and policy institutions.

Both programs are deeply aligned with the civil services exam syllabi, offering students a dual advantage – they earn a degree while gaining intensive exam coaching and preparation.

MIT-SICS Pune offers an innovative and integrated curriculum that merges academic theory with exam-centric preparation. Here’s how the integration works:

Syllabus Alignment :

The syllabus for both the BA and MA programs is closely aligned with the syllabi of government exams, such as UPSC, MPSC, NABARD, and other state exams. For instance, topics like Indian Polity, Economics, History, and Geography, which are crucial for civil service exams, are part of the curriculum.

Study Material and Mock Tests :

Students receive specially curated study materials, books, and resources that cater to both academic and exam requirements. Regular mock tests, test series, and practice papers are conducted to assess the students’ progress.

Current Affairs Sessions :

Weekly sessions on current affairs are a key part of the curriculum. These sessions ensure that students are up to date with national and international events, policies, and social issues, which are integral to the general studies paper in most exams.

The faculty at MIT-SICS comprises experts in public administration and competitive exams. They provide personalized mentorship to students, guiding them through complex subjects and exam strategies.
